1:48 scale Neoclassical style rug, 2nd half of the 18th century

Needlepoint design by Anna-Carin Betzén, based on an antique design for a full-scale rug

Based on an antique design for a rug - a painted design sheet with no date given, nor any suggested dimensions for the rug. I stitched it many years ago; it's one of the first rugs I charted.

This design probably dates to the 2nd half of the 18th century. The oval patera style medallion and delicate ornaments are seen in many designs by Robert Adam and his contemporaries. I think it would look great in a print room. Change the color scheme to match.

I've played around with the colors to create a Wedgwood style color scheme, in shades of cream on a colored ground. I'm providing charts for it, but you're on your own picking the colors - I haven't tried out what shades of floss would work.
