Needlepoint design by Anna-Carin Betzén, based on a full-scale rug
A very Victorian carpet. Stitched with DMC floss on 48 count gauze, it measures 24×29 mm (15/16"×1-1/8"). I think it would look really neat as a work in progress on a needlework stand in a 1:12 scale dollhouse.
This may not be the best design to start with if you're a new stitcher, as there are so many colors and intricate counting.
Note that the rug shown isn't done with DMC floss. For some reason, I stitched it on 60 count silk gauze using Gütermann silk sewing thread with one of the three plies removed - stupid really; this kind of rug should be pretty big.
For a different colorway, just changing the background color makes a great difference. You could change the colors of the pink flowers as well - they're on the bright side, in order to stand out from the dusty rose background.
